Welcome to K2 our first kindergarten class. the children usually start at 4-5 years old. Lighthouse concentrates on cognitive plus creative abilities combined with excellent social skills. Children continue the Jolly Phonics and reading skills explode at around 5 years. They engage in interactive story times, their own mini presentations. Exciting science about the natural world and space. More advanced artwork and creative exercises.

K2 Teachers

Our lead teachers have been with Lighthouse many years. They are very passionate about their jobs and loves her Kindergarten 2 children.

Support Staff

Every Kindergarten 2 class has a trained assistant teacher. They are there to help with activites and help individual students, they understand the curriculum and keep the class running smoothly and make sure each student gets good attention.

Physical Education Specialists

We have a teacher dedicated to PE (Physical Education). He energises the class with different games and challenges both outdoors and indoors. This is essential for gross motor skills, balance, fun and muscle development.

Specialist Art teachers

We have a specialist art teacher taught at Lighthouse for many years. She is very calm and always prepares great creations for every level of student.

Field Trips

We actively organise field trips during summer to places like the Phuket Aquarium. Its a great chance for the children to get outside of the school and open their minds to the many incredible places Phuket has to offer.

Reading & writing and numbers sense

Our Kindergarten 2 children usually join the class at aged 4-5 years but we do have flexibility and it does depend on ability. We make an organised yet fun, stimulating and educational environment.

Language & literacy

K2 students recognise and manipulate sounds in spoken words rapidly expanding their English vocabulary. They understand all the letters and the sounds they make, continuing Jolly Phonics course. Children in the K2 class start to comprehend text, read signs as their reading skills compound very quickly. Writing skills strengthen to the point where the children can write simple sentences.

K2 children love listening to and understanding stories in depth. They are eagar to re-tell them and use ideas in their own creative stories. We encourage alot of group work. in this class and working together becomes second nature.

Thai Language

Students continue to learn spoken and written Thai language although English is predominant at Lighthouse.

Mathematics

K2 children can count to 100 by ones and tens they have a good grasp of addition and subtraction. They are easily able to sort objects by colour, shape & size. They are introduced the to concepts of length, weight, and volume using non-standard units.

Science & Exploration

K2 children have an exciting time in science as they are able to describe the natural world around them, in terms of the different types of plants and animals, their habitats, and life cycles. Space and Earth is introduced and how it plays a part in the weather and seasons.

Social

Social & Emotional Development

Lighthouse has a strong emphasis on social skills and emotional intelligence. Children learn to interact respectfully with peers, resolve conflicts, and develop empathy. K2 students recognise and name different emotions as they gain more self regulation to manage emotions and behavior.

Sports

Our dedicated sports teacher sets fun challenges like obstacle courses. Activites involve running, jumping, climbing, and participating in group games. We have an indoor and outdoor play area.

Structured classroom environment

Part of school is understanding the importance of personal hygiene practices. Students learning about personal safety, including road safety and stranger awareness. They are taught the basics of healthy eating and nutrition.

Healthy meals at our cafeteria

Lighthouse has full time chefs who cook fresh healthy food everyday for the children for breakfast lunch and snacktimes. Our food is proudly served without refined sugar or MSG.

Cloakrooms

Showers and toilets and a cloakroom to store the children’s bags.
